Christmas hours

4. Week 6 - Thursday

Age 2–3

Help your child to follow instructions and develop their coordination by playing the Jumping Frogs game. See if they can make links between the words and the actions. For example, can they jump, bounce, run etc.?

Age 3–4

Your child might be starting nursery or school. The setting may be new or they may have older siblings, cousins or neighbours already there. Your school may have sent you some welcome information or there may be a virtual tour or photographs of the teachers on the school website. Have a look together and talk about school in a positive way. Have a walk to school, catch the bus or go in the car. Talk about your journey. Check out the outside areas and the gate your child will use.

Ask your child to try on their school uniform and practise independent skills. If you can, dig out an old photo of parents, carers, grandparents, aunties or uncles in their school uniform. Talk about what looks the same and what looks different.

Age 4–5

Your child might be starting school or moving into Year 1. The school may be new or they may have older siblings, cousins or neighbours already there. If they are moving into Year 1 they may be using a different entrance when they go back. Have a walk to school, catch the bus or go in the car. Talk about your journey. Check out the outside areas and the gate your child will use.
