The Council website is undergoing routine maintenance on Tuesday 19 March between 12 and 5 pm. This may result in the site being unavailable for a brief period during this time.

9. How long do governors serve?

Governors normally serve for a term of office lasting four years but you can of course resign at any time after you are elected or appointed.

Many governors in Oldham offer their services to governing bodies over the four year period.

We always recommend that governors serving longer than four years regularly attend training to ensure they are up to date with the latest Government policies and procedures that will affect them in their role and the school that they are a governor to.

Experienced governors are given the opportunity to apply to become Local Leaders in Governance (LLG) or to apply nationally to become a Nation Leader of Governance (NLG).
