Description

Registered for 30 hours free childcare.

Has accessed the recent Early Years Foundation Stage update for new changes to Ofsted requirements from September 2012.
Has recently renewed Safeguarding Training Level 2 and holds a current paediatric first aid certificate.  I hold a Level 3 Certificate in Children and Young Peoples Workforce.  I am a member of Oldham Professional Independent Childminders (OPIC). I attend training sessions that are provided by the local authority and also provided by OPIC.

How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

By observing the children and speaking to their parents.

How do you involve parents/carers?

By speaking to the parents on a regular basis and sharing their child's learning journey.

By attending training courses that may be appropriate, to speak to other agencies and professionals and keeping in close contact with the parents.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

By observing the children and ensuring they follow the EYFS with their goals and achievements. Also with regular contact with parents.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

By sharing the informaton on the CHAPS document and regular observations with parents and following the EYFS.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

I ensure all activities are readily available for all children in my setting and can be adapted to all children.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

My setting is very accessible for children of all ages and abilities.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

All children in my care will be included. I risk assess before I go on any trips and if any additional equipment was required, I would discuss this with parents.

How do you work with other organisations?

I am available to discuss any information with other agencies by arranging meetings. I am happy to help the parents in any way.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

I have a settling in period with all new starters. They come to me for a few hours a week over the course of a few weeks so we both get to know one another.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

I do not have any staff, however, I attend any training that is provided by Oldham Early Years and also I am a member of OPIC who also provide some training and have regular meetings to enable us to discuss any issues.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

Any issues can be discussed with me initially. If this needs to be escalated further, this can be passed on to Ofsted. I can provided phone numbers and address for this.
