We are an all inclusive setting and welcome any families of any Religion / Culture as I feel this will help enhance learning for all the children within the setting.

How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

By keeping updated with current training offered, also through assessments within the setting, getting to know the children and the parents.

How do you involve parents/carers?

By talking to each other about how the child is doing and their progress and how they achieve things.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

I will help you support your child's learning and development by sharing with you their learning development file and also activities to help them reach their goals.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

I received an outstanding Ofsted grade in November 2016 the focus on the levels of teaching is outlined in my report. By using the online system that i use it allows me to record and track children's levels of education. I provide a warm, secure and inviting welcome to all my families and offer settling in periods for the children and make sure children are settled within the setting.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

Parents have access to their own child's data online. They can log in daily and see through daily diaries what activities their child has been taking part in, parents can view all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and see the observations and next steps i have applied to their child. Parents will be provided with a termly tracker which shows from term to term how well their child is doing in each area of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

My setting is inclusive so all activities and resources provided will be adapted where necessary within the learning environment and made age and developmental stage appropriate.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

Children can move between rooms and have access to all toys and resources. If there was a child with a particular need I would ensure space was available for them. I also risk assess daily the indoor and outdoor areas to ensure safety for each child. Our setting is very well designed for most young children, however we would probably encounter a problem accessing the outdoors with a child in a wheelchair as we have a number of small steps leading onto the main play area.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

This is dependent on the child and where we are going. Reasonable adaptations for the trip would be made and additional risk assessments would be carried out. I may also contact the venue and find out about their accessibility (where applicable).

How do you work with other organisations?

We would always work in partnership with any other professionals /agencies involved i.e. Additional Educational Needs and Disabilities specialist and yourselves in conjunction with the eyfs framework any other special requirements that your child may have.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

When a parent requires a place, they do several visits with the child and when I feel the child is ready they will stay on their own. I have a Settling in policy and Inclsuion policy to show how children and their parents are welcomed. When a child comes to leave, we prepare them beforehand and they know they can always keep in touch.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

Training which is updated through Safeguarding Networks and regular checks on the internet

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

Parents recieve a copy of my Complaints policy which provides what action they need to take and the outcome. Parents usually share compliments verbally or through cards. Regular chats with parents ensures any concerns they have will be dealt with. With babies I use a daily diary that parents can also use to write anything in.
