Reintroduction of parking charges
Still free for NHS staff and Keyworkers.
Following the latest government announcement encouraging people back into work we are making changes to our town centre car parking charges.
At the end of March we temporarily suspended charging to ensure NHS staff had somewhere to park when going about their vital roles.
As our car parks got busier, as more people return to work and businesses start to lift the shutters, we have reintroduced parking charges.
NHS staff and key workers can continue to park for free while they carry out their duties – as long as they display a parking pass that will have been issued from their place of work.
On street car parking fees will also be reintroduced and enforcement in residential parking zones will also return.
Bus lane enforcement will also restart. Parking charges at Dove Stone Reservoir will also be reintroduced.
However, this does not mean NHS staff and keyworkers can park illegally or unsafely.
If their parking is deemed to have put others at risk then they would face a possible fine.
Penalty Charge Notices
Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and for the protection of our staff, the answering of telephone calls, emails and the processing of representations, penalty notices were temporarily put on hold.
If you wish to appeal against a new penalty charge notice or appeal further against a rejection notice, please do so as directed on the penalty charge notice or letter.
