Chadderton has been chosen as one of 170 towns in the UK to get £20 million over 10 years from the government.
This isn’t just a quick cash boost. It’s a long-term plan to improve the town over the next decade.
What is pride in place?
The programme is designed to put local people in the driving seat. It’s about giving communities the power, funding, and tools to make long-term improvements that matter most to them.
It focuses on three main goals.
- Thriving places: Improving streets, parks, culture, and historic buildings for the future.
- Stronger communities: Making the town safer and more connected, and bringing people together, not just fixing buildings.
- Taking back control: A neighbourhood board makes the decisions.
Funding will be used to support projects that matter most to local people and reflect what they want for the town’s future.
Who's leading the work?
A group called the Chadderton Neighbourhood Board has been set up to lead the work, and by speaking with the community they have identified the main areas that need investment.
It includes local residents, business owners, councillors, and community leaders.
The chair is Laura Windsor-Welsh, Oldham Director of Action Together.
Their job is to create a 10-year plan, ask residents what matters most, decide how the money is spent, and make sure everything is delivered properly.

Have your say
This is just the beginning and your opinion matters.
The board is asking for views from residents, young people, businesses, and community and faith groups.
The Chadderton Neighbourhood Board will seek out diverse perspectives by engaging with and attending meetings of existing local groups, networks and community organisations.
All feedback will be collected and reviewed, formally presented to the board, and used to help shape final decisions.
