Subsidising the cost of compostable liners
Although the Council doesn’t provide free compostable bags, it does heavily subsidize the cost of buying bags through the local stockists.
This means the bags are affordable for all whilst benefitting local businesses and the environment.
These bags have been developed by the Council and its partners to be “dual-use” which means they can be used once to carry home your shopping and then again when recycling food waste.
The dual-use compostable bags are currently the largest, strongest and best quality local authority compostable bag in the UK.
Please note, all major supermarkets stock compostable liners but these are not subsidised by Oldham Council.
