The Big Bang Bonfire - Thursday, November 4

The Big Bang Bonfire - Thursday, November 2

Our Big Bang Bonfire is back for its 11th year.

The bonfire is the largest event of its kind in the borough and will take place at Oldham Edge Playing Fields (Henshaw Street, Oldham OL1 3EN).

The final arrangements are currently underway for what promises to be one of our biggest and most colourful bonfire events ever – including a thrilling fire and light show and firework finale from UK champions Fantastic Fireworks.

Running order

  • 5pm – Site opens at Oldham Edge including the fairground and food stalls.
  • 6pm – Bonfire lighting, fire show, live music and more…
  • 7pm – Fantastic Fireworks display.

Safety

At this time of year, the Council works alongside the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and partners to keep people safe from fires, injuries and nuisance.

The Big Bang Bonfire helps to ease the extreme pressure that can be put on our emergency services.

The following are not allowed on-site and will be confiscated:

  • Alcohol
  • Gazebos
  • Fires
  • Barbecues
  • Fireworks
  • Sparklers or any naked flames

You are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear and asked to discard any rubbish in the bins on site or take it home to dispose of.

Parking

Free parking from 3pm on the day will be available in all council-owned town centre car parks (except the former Sports centre car park on Rock Street), on-street pay and display parking bays, and the Town Square Car Park on Ascroft Street.

Please note, if you park in Spindles car park, it closes at 7pm, so we advise you to use Town Square.

Lord Street will be closed from 3pm, from its junction with Rock Street to Yorkshire Street.
