How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

By Several means including:- *Introduction from outside agencies and parents/carers. *Checking results from Early ASQ's (Ages and Stages Questionnaires) or Transitional Documents from other settings as part of our induction. *In house key person observations and assessments through using Early Years Foundation Stage principles. *Monitoring through implementing planning child's differentiation of needs.

How do you involve parents/carers?

*Through regular liaison and sharing of their child's development stages and concerns. *Work together on small targets and strategies to identify the needs of the child.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

*Offer a Person Centred approach to address the immediate needs of the child. *We would suggest help through introduction to specialised outside agencies. *Set up an individual plan, working towards small targets and strategies in the interim.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

*Continue to work towards pre-set target and strategies.*Hold regular Person Centred reviews with the parents and all other outside agencies concerned. *Evaluate what's working

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

*Regular half-termly formal meeting with parents re: plan, do and review. *Regular termly meetings inviting full attendance of other outside agencies involved. *Informal chats with parents/carers during normal day-to-day sessions - through Key person/Senco liaisons.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

*Differentiate activities when needed. *Adapt resources and learning environment as needed. *Seek funding for specialised equipment if needed through appropriate outside agencies/bodies.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

*St. Anne's Pre-school is situated on the ground floor, with both an accessible ramp into the school playground and a flat entrance to the main door from the street. *Toilets have easy access - on the flat, with widen doors, child level toilets and washbasins. *Children between the ages of 2 years and 5 years of age are fully catered for by smaller sized tables, chairs and play equipment.

How do you work with other organisations?

*All children within St. Anne's Pre-school, Royton are fully catered for as is our Inclusive policy. *It is our policy and procedure to ensure parents are fully informed of any outings or trips. *Parents are invited along should they choose to do so or if they are otherwise absent through work commitments, permission is sought before the trip is put into place. *Staff in the instance of trips and outings work within a 1 adult to 2 children ratio (regardless of ages of the children). *Parents that will accompany us on our trips will be considered as Volunteers and at no time will be left totally alone with children other than their own.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

*We keep a list of contacts on file (updated regularly)of outside agencies/professionals to enable to seek help or advice or pass on referrals. *We invite all relevant outside agencies/professionals to our regular Plan, Do, Reviews.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

*Through induction consisting of pre-visits by parents/carer and child. Discussing their child's needs should complexities dictate. *Introducing Key person and setting up baseline checks and initially working from observing, assessing, evaluating and putting the child's next steps into our forward planning. *Put Educational Health Care (EHC) plans into place if warranted, through close work and meetings with other agencies. *Send Transitional documents to relevant next setting with accompanied pre-visits by child, Key person/Senco and parents/careers.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

*Manager and Senco are thoroughly trained in all relevant SEND requirements for the pre-school and their roles within additional needs of children in their care. *Training is updated as and when needed especially in specialised areas. *Training of other staff within the pre-school is cascaded down from Manager and Senco.
