Registered for 30 hours free childcare.

Costs are negotiable dependent on circumstances.

Claire is an approved member of Oldham's Early Years Childminding Network, which is a Quality Assurance Scheme, members of which,

  • Have completed a Quality Assurance Award
  • Have demonstrated a high standard of childcare
  • Have actively thought about their practice and found ways of improving their service
  • Receive monitoring and support visits from a co-ordinator every 10 to 12 weeks
  • Are assessed  by a network co-ordinator to ensure they continue to work to the National Childminding Associations Quality Standards.

Claire will also pick up children at midday from St Martins school. Claire works with an assistant who is first aid trained and has a level 2.

The setting has its own menu which is on a four week rota, so parents have a weekly view of what meals their child will be eating.

Within the setting we celebrate a variety of cultures and I welcome family's to share their cultures with the setting so we can all learn from each other.

How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

I provide all parents with information online regarding their child's development within the EYFS. Parents can see how well their child is learning. I provide baseline assessments and termly assessments where your child's data is tracked to see how much progress they are making, I provide a 2 year assessment which is sent home to show your child's health visitor. If i feel a child is not making progress, next steps and ILP's are set up for the child. I provide parents meetings to discuss all children's development and I will work with the child's Parents and health visitor to see what other support i can provide for the child.

How do you involve parents/carers?

I provide parents meetings either in my setting or in the child's home. I will have documentation showing the child's progress and be able to explain where their child should be within the EYFS. I will work with parents/carers in helping their child make progress and explain that i work with other agencies and professionals for the best interests of the child.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

I use an online system which helps me track and record your child's development. Children can take home reading books from my setting which has information sheets for parents so they know what to look for and help the children with their learning, I also use learning bags which children take home with different activities which support the EYFS. Parents can then upload the photos/videos onto the online system. I talk with parents about their child's learning on a daily basis and give parents ideas to do with their child at home.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

I received an outstanding ofsted grade in September 2015 the focus on the levels of teaching is outlined in my report. By using the online system that i use it allows me to record and track children's levels of education. I provide a warm, secure and inviting welcome to all my families and offer settling in periods for the children and make sure children are settled within the setting.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

Parents have access to their own child's data online. They can log in daily and see through daily diaries what activities their child has been taking part in, parents can view all areas of the EYFS and see the observations and next steps i have applied to their child. Parents will be provided with a termly tracker which shows from term to term how well their child is doing in each area of the EYFS.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

I have worked closely with other agencies and with the support and advice they have offered I have provided the support to the child. I still provide parents with the daily information and keep them updated on their child's progress. If any adaptions need to be made this is then put into a development plan.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

I mainly work outdoors. I have a secure gated entrance to the rear of the property. I have a covered area with an outdoor learning classroom and accessible resources that provide continuous provision. My outdoor area is used in all weathers and in winter months we use the heated classroom or summer house to keep warm. I have different levels within the outdoor environment which help children with their gross motor skills. I do still use my house sometimes but not very often.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

At the moment we visit some community groups. Boogie babies - where children take part in singing and dancing, story time and snack time, mixing with other children of different ages. Mucky monkeys - Children take part in messy play and watch a puppet show. We visit our local library and take part in rhyme time and story time. We visit soft play centers (around once a month) to develop gross motor skills. We have visited the zoo, farms, cinema, shopping centers, dentists, Drs, garden centers, swimming sessions, listening and nature walks, Seaside, Teddy bears picnics, sea life center and plenty of parks. The trips are either in my car/coach/train/bus.

How do you work with other organisations?

If possible i like the agencies to see how the children are within my setting and it gives me the chance to talk to them whilst the child is playing and I can share with them the child's development. I welcome telephone conversations with other professionals also. I have worked with speech and language therapists, health visitors and early years professionals within my setting.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

Settling in sessions are provided and monitored, some children need longer than one settling in period. All children have a two month period where myself and parents get together to see if there are any issues. Baseline assessments are implemented at this point. When children leave the setting they are provided with their last tracker and a transition report to pass onto the next provider.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

I have attended an extended Senco training course and I keep up to date with my training.
