• All children go out into the local community as often as we can • We do not stick to one day of the week, we rota it so each child has the opportunity to explore the wider community

How do you work with other organisations?

• Liaised over the telephone, email and through letter • Also invite outside agencies in to the setting • Conduct joint observations on the child/ren and have meetings to set attainable targets for the child/ren

How do you support children when they start and leave?

• Settling in sessions at Nursery and encourage parents to stay to help the child settle • Ask parent to do a starting point observation and all about me so the child’s key person can see where there development is at and there likes, dislikes and interests. • When leaving we encourage teachers to come into the setting to see the child in the nursery environment and encourage they ask all necessary questions. Transition forms are filled out and passed over to the new setting along with a copy to the child’s summary of development. If the child leaves to go to a new setting we send home the child’s learning journey to pass to the new nursery. This will consist of observations, summaries of development, overview of development, back ground information and attendance record.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

• We have a lead AEN officer and two supporting practitioners • All staff are made aware of strategies and the best ways to support the children with additional needs. • AEN coordinator will update all staff in staff meetings of any changes to process’ or strategies

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

• Manager or deputy within the office are always on site • Compliments, concerns or complaints can be directed to them • A full investigation will take place and an outcome with be verbally fed back
