How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

Using chaps and regular observations and assessments also I keep up to date with training.

How do you involve parents/carers?

I speak to parents/carers, go over any concerns and work together to achieve the best possible outcome for the child.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

I would gather as much information as I could, share with parents and we would work together.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

I get to know each child, document their development and flap up any concerns I may have.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

I will continue tracking your child. We will work together and if need be we can bring in other professional bodies for more guidance.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

I will plan activities around your children's invidivual needs, for instance if a child has visual impairment I would arrange furniture and resources for easy access.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

I have wheelchair access into my setting. All resources are downstairs including the toilet and the garden is on one level and easily accessible.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

If we go out on trips, I will risk assess first and discuss with parents.

How do you work with other organisations?

I will be in contact with Oldham Early years and our local Children's Centre who offer great resources.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

I would advice lots of pre visits before starting with my setting, to visit schools or nurseries for leavers.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

I update my training and regularly check SEND training, speech and language.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

Parents are provided with a policy outlining how to go forward with any concerns they may have.
