How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?SEND would be identified via observations of the child whilst attending the setting and following EYFS developmental markers and the EYFS Framework.
How do you involve parents/carers?Parents would be advised of any developmental needs observed and recorded and I would engage to work together with parents to progress the child and any referrals which may be necessary.
How do you support a child’s learning and development?Using the EYFS framework and developmental markers I will observe and mark down child s learning needs and progression in all areas and I would work with them in my setting whilst also communicating with parents on what can be achieved at home in support of the same.
How do you meet a child’s educational needs?I will follow the EYFS Framework and developmental markers to ensure all children’s needs and requirements are met. Ensuring a warm and nurturing setting is available to all children who attend whilst engaging in learning through play.
How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes? As a registered childminder I will ensure that all children have a learning profile and all developmental markers etc will be documented in this profile readily available for OFTSED and parents.
How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?I would ensure all materials etc being used are adaptable to children with SEND for example sensory type materials which can be used for all children, ensuring resources aren’t unsuitable (too noisy etc) for children with SEND whilst ensuring the activity is also adaptable for all other children in attendance.
How accessible is your service, outside and inside? My environment is accessed via a front door and provides no restrictions to anyone. Garden is accessed by the back door accessed through the main house
How do you involve children in outings and trips?Children will be transported in my 7 seater vehicle insured for running a business and will be kept together fully supervised at all times.
How do you work with other organisations?I will ensure to engage with external agencies as and when required in order to support children with SEND I will refer to external agencies when required to and work alongside them to ensure the child’s needs are me
How do you support children when they start and leave?I have a settling period of 2 attendances one with child and parent and one with just the child. If any further settling needed to be done I would accommodate this.
How are you/staff trained in extra needs?Following the EYFS framework and attending relevant training courses as and when required in order to benefit the children and meet their needs.
What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns? The MASH team, or OFSTED would be my first point of contact for any complaints and concerns. Both agencies would expect documentation of the issue and their own procedures and policies would be implemented.
