How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

By observations, meetings with the family, progress measures against early learning goals.

How do you involve parents/carers?

Providing simple guidance to parents about SEND. How they can support their child, regularly reviewing and how to identify areas for improvement.

Support them to improve communications and language, taking turns in conversations, reading to them often and introducing them to new words everyday

Observation, assessment and planning. Making sure that we are inclusive, working together to really understand and meet the childs’ individual needs. Involves sharing information and skills and building relationships based on mutual respect,

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

By observation, assessment and planning by using trackers to mark when a child has met certain stages and where they may need further support.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

Make sure that i plan for the range of developmental needed in each activity, Enhance the verbal cues used to explain to the children where to go next. Gestures, pictures and objects for the children who need more than speech.Arrange tables and chairs to suit.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

My early years learning environment can be adapted to suit individual needs.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

I will ensure that your child gets the support they need, and engage in all activities alongside other children, and i will work closely with parents. Activities will be adapted to suit their needs.

How do you work with other organisations?

By sharing information and knowledge and meetings, to support your child.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

I offer staggered admissions invite parents to stay with the child as they adjust to their new environment. They can bring a familiar object from home ie teddy/blanket. When the child moves on from my setting, we will visit their new setting and meet their teachers.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

We go on regular training sessions, and keep up to date with special educational needs, online and in house training.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
