How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

By keeping upto date with any current training offered, through assessments and observations, knowing the children , talking to the parents and other professionals to identify individual needs.

How do you involve parents/carers?

I work in partnership with parents, discussing child's progress and any concerns we may both have at regular meetings, using the learning journeys , observations and assessments to explain my concerns and work with parents to involve other agencies, health visitor, doctor etc.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

We would work together with any other professionals involved, using the Eyfs framework and any other requirements the child may need.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

By getting to know the child well, planning for their individual needs and interests and by providing a stimulating and nurturing environment.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

Regular discussions with parents,  using information from home to help me plan and work with child, sharing learning journeys and photos and keeping track of child's learning through the Eyfs.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

All activities and resources would be adapted to ensure that all children have age appropriate and developmentally stage appropriate learning and be involved in all we do.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

Children can move freely between rooms and have access to toys and resources, we have a downstairs toilet, however we do have a step leading to the outdoor play area, which is all on one level.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

All children would be involved in routine outings, toddler groups, rhyme time and story sessions, trips to libraries and museums, parks and visits within the local community. All of the above would be risk assessed, with the specific needs of the child and other children I care for given full consideration.

How do you work with other organisations?

I would work in partnership with other professionals and agencies and would welcome any involvement, information sharing, help and guidance from all professions involved with child.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

By ensuring the child visits my setting at various times, following the child's routine as best as possible, so that I become accustomed to their routines and the same for the child. I would help and prepare any child as best as possible for a smooth and successful transition, visiting and using information about the new setting.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

I undertake any training as and when it becomes available to keep fully informed about any changes and up to date information.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

Parents can talk to me about any issues they have to try to prevent an issue becoming a complaint but should this not be possible then I would signpost to ofsted to resolve the matter.
