By speaking to parents, training, liaising with early years professionals and health care workers, teachers etc. Also use past training, and experience to identify possible SEND.How do you involve parents/carers?
We involve our parents in all we do regarding the children in our care. Once again using our tracking system and chaps, once we had identified that there may be a concern with a child in whatever area of their development we would suggest that we have a meeting with the parents/ carers and discuss briefly our findings. From then on we would advise parents to involve in the first instance the health visitor and / or AEN specialist.How do you support a child’s learning and development?
We would work in partnership with any other professionals involved i.e. AEN specialist and yourselves in conjunction with the EYFS framework and any other special requirements that your child may need.How do you meet a child’s educational needs?
By ensuring I run my setting to the best of my ability at all times following closely the Early Years Foundation Stage and Ofsted recommendations for development of children.How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?
I will keep track of their development and achievements in their daily logbook and learning journey. The learning journey will outline what level the child is at, what they do well and plan for the next step in their development.How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?
Activities are planned around the children's needs and requirements so if an activity was planned I would ensure all children could partake in it. If any resources could help a child I would either borrow or purchase it.How accessible is your service, outside and inside?
Children can move between rooms and have access to all toys and resources. If there was a child with a particular need I would ensure space was available for them. I also risk assess daily the indoor and outdoor areas to ensure safety for each child.How do you involve children in outings and trips?
Again, this is dependent on the child and where we are going. Reasonable adaptations for the trip would be made and additional risk assessments would be carried out. I may also contact the venue and find out about their accessibility (where applicable).How do you work with other organisations?
We would always work in partnership with any other professionals /agencies involved i.e. AEN specialist and yourselves in conjunction with the EYFS framework any other special requirements that your child may have.How do you support children when they start and leave?
When a parent requires a place, they do several visits with the child and when I feel the child is ready they will stay on their own. I have a Settling in policy and Inclusion policy to show how children and their parents are welcomed. When a child comes to leave, we prepare them beforehand and they know they can always keep in touch.How are you/staff trained in extra needs?
Attending regular SEND training organised by Oldham Council and other external bodies.What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
Firstly, you can contact me I am very open minded and will listen to any complaints you may have and hopefully we can deal with them in that way. If you are not happy you can contact Ofsted who will deal with your complaint further.
