How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?
I provide all parents with information online regarding their child's development within the EYFS. Parents can see how well their child is learning. I provide baseline assessments and termly assessments where your child's data is tracked to see how much progress they are making. I provide a 2-year assessment, which is sent home to show your child's health visitor. If I feel a child is not making progress, next steps and ILP's are set up for the child. I provide parents meetings to discuss all children's development and I will work with the child's parents and health visitor to see what other support I can provide for the child.
How do you involve parents/carers?
I will keep you up to date with your child’s development using learning journals and by talking to parents about their developmental milestones at home.
How do you support a child’s learning and development?
I would continue to use our tracking system in conjunction with any other development plans that may be implemented by other agencies.
How do you meet a child’s educational needs?
I would continue to use our tracking system as well as the chaps document in conjunction with any other development plans that may be implemented by other agencies.
How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?
I will keep track of their development and achievements in their daily log and learning journey. The learning journey will outline what level the child is at, what they do well and plan for the next steps in their development.
How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?
All my activities are planned around the children's needs and requirements so if an activity was planned I would ensure all children could partake in it. If any resources could help a child I would either borrow or purchase it.
How accessible is your service, outside and inside?
All my resources are kept downstairs in safe reach for each age group. I have toilet facilities downstairs and my back garden is flat. I do, however, have two steps up to my front door and a step into the back garden.
How do you involve children in outings and trips?
All children will be involved in routine outings such as toddler groups, stay and play sessions, rhythm and rhyme sessions, trips to the library and museums, parks, gardens, and many local places within the community such as shops, post office etc.
How do you work with other organisations?
I am happy to work in partnership with any other professionals / agencies involved i.e. AEN specialist and yourselves in conjunction with the EYFS framework any other special requirements that your child may have.
How do you support children when they start and leave?
I provide all children with settling in sessions and ask parents to complete questionnaire's detailing their child's routines and likes and dislikes. After a period of time, they are asked to fill in a questionnaire of how well they have settled. I also carry out transitional or baseline assessments of the child. The child's folder is then made available when they leave the setting.
How are you/staff trained in extra needs?
I have no staff at the moment and no plans to take anyone on.
What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
I welcome child and parental feedback regularly and reflect on the feedback given to see whether I can improve my practice to ensure I strive to continually develop myself and my setting to provide the best service possible. I have a written policy with regards to concerns and complaints. I would invite parents and carers to follow the internal policy and in the event I am unable to resolve any issue then parents/carers can contact Ofsted who will deal with the complaint further.
