How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

Through discussion with parents, observation and assessment. Our qualified staff who have a good knowledge of child development monitor each child's progress in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

How do you involve parents/carers?

Parents are involved in all we do with the children in our care. Each child will have a key worker, when they attend their settling in visits the key worker talk to them about their child so that we know as much about the as possible before they start at our setting. Parents can talk to their key worker or any member of staff at anytime.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

Our knowledgable staff are friendly and approachable, your child will have a key person who will support you, we also have an open door policy so that you can come and speak to any member of staff at any time. We share our termly summaries of your child's progress with you at parent meetings when your child's key worker will also give suggestions/ideas on how you can support your child's learning at home. You can also share with them anything you would like us to work on in playgroup.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

Our staff have access to continued professional development to ensure their skills and knowledge of cild development are kept up to date. We will have regular meeting with ant outside professionals involved in your child's care to ensure we are meeting your child's needs.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

Your child will have their own SEN file which will be reviewed by their key person and the setting SENCO on a regular basis.Through observation and assessment and evaluation we can see how they are progressing with their targets. This will be shared with you on a regular basis.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

All children are individuals and we adjust activities to suit their individual needs.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

Our setting is fully accessible both indoors and outdoors with flat access and disables toilets.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

All children are involved in any outing or trip. When planning a outing/trip we ask for parents input and make and adaptions necessary.

How do you work with other organisations?

We welcome all external agencies to playgroup and will attend any meeting/training off or on site. External agencies are able to arrange a visit when necessary and speak to all staff involved in the child's care.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

When starting at our setting we encourage settling in visits with parents/carers in order that the child can become familiar with our staff children and the layout of the setting. We also provide photographs of the different rooms for parents to show their child at home. We ask parents to fill in an All About Me booklet to help our staff know about the child which helps the setting in process.When children move to another setting, we arrange for visits with them ( where possible) and their key person and provide transition information to the new setting.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

We have a designated trained SENCO who attends local network meetings, all staff have a goo knowledge of SEND and access tom training when required.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

If a parent has a complaint they can speak to any member of staff on site. We have an open door policy. Ofsted contact details are provided on our parent notice board if a parent feels their complaint has not been dealt with appropriately. However we would strive to deal with a complaint effectively and efficiently, keeping parent's involved at all times. When we receive a compliment this is always shared with staff, it is important to pass on positive feedback.
