We use what to expect and when toolkit combined with Early Years SEND individual progress tracker and good communication with the SEND authorities.How do you involve parents/carers?
We have regular progress meetings using the WELCOMM programme and highlighter individual progress tracker toolkit. We explain in great detail with the help of the authority’s input. We have regular face to face updates.How do you support a child’s learning and development?
Our team will help support parents using their EYFS booklets and developmental journeys plan achievable next steps together, providing opportunities for parents to feedback their progress at home and for us to share appropriate speech/activities for their child at their stage of learning.How do you meet a child’s educational needs?
We ensure child’s needs are met by limiting children with SEND needs to adult ratio we also offer one to one support for the child depending on their needs and funding.How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?
We use the highlighting tracker toolkit to make sure the child is making progress, along with WELCOMM programme.How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?
We work with other professionals who give us advice what equipment/activities would be beneficial for each child, providing opportunities for children with send work one to one with their key worker on these achievable targetsHow accessible is your service, outside and inside?
Wheelchair access throughout the school grounds into our pre-school, open plan area to move about.How do you involve children in outings and trips?
We make sure any school trip is accessible for all needs.How do you work with other organisations?
We work closely with external agencies making sure each child get regular visits into the setting and home visits. Regular telephone calls and 4 plus 1 meetings each month.How do you support children when they start and leave?
All new children’s parents receive a one-page profile-so all children are treated the same from the start of their journeys, using these to settle in and identify early needs. We work on achievable next steps throughout their time and have short visits in reception class from the age of 3 to help every child prepare and settle for their transition.How are you/staff trained in extra needs?
Staff meetings, we fill in paperwork together, so all staff are involved with hands on learning, so all staff feel confident with their SEND key working children and know what they need to be working on before their next review meetingsWhat is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
All information is available for parents on our notice board explain who our setting SENCO is, what to do if you have a concern or complaints procedures, I will log any complaints and expect a call or visit from the authority if the issue cannot be resolved in our setting.
