By completing observations in the nursery and reviewing this along with the development matters section of the EYFS to complete assessments for children. Any concerns discussed with parents, health visitors and other outside agencies if all involved agree it is needed.

How do you involve parents/carers?

We complete assessments with parents input and continuously involve parents in reviews for their child.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

We will plan support that we can put in place in nursery and share this with ideas of support that parents can also use at home.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

Through regular observations and assessments alongside the EYFS. We put individual plans in place for each child that is tailored around their interests and needs, this is wrote with parents and any outside agencies involved with the child.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

We will record the child’s responses to any support we put in place and share this with parents through a Tapestry account online. We then hold parent meetings termly to discuss the progress made and next steps to support their child with.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

We use information that is advice from outside agencies such as, additional educational needs advisors, speech and language therapist, health visitors and regular SENCo network meetings.

Before a child starts at our setting we offer settling in sessions and this is discussed with parents to ensure the sessions meet the child’s needs. When a child is leaving our setting, we support the transition by holding a meeting with the new nursery/school, and provide activities, stories and support for the child before the change is made.
