How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

Using the EYFS guidelines and observation of the child in the setting. Third party referral may also be a tool to use.

How do you involve parents/carers?

Communicating to parents about any observations made on the setting and advising on the relevant services to access for help and support.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

Providing a learning journey and regular updates on them within the setting.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

By registering with Ofsted we have a duty of care to ensure children’s needs are met and this will be done following the EYFS framework and ensuring the resources needed for the setting are provided.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

Through regular observations and documenting children’s progress in the setting. Communicating via learning journals.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

Ensuring the resources are SEND specific etc sensory lights toys and quiet space.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

Full access inside within the outdoor space but I intend to ensure the children get outdoor time before entering the club regularly throughout the week.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

We won’t be providing trips as we are wrap around care.

How do you work with other organisations?

Communicating to external agencies with learning journals and observations made if support is needed.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

Children will be made to feel comfortable in the setting and will be encouraged to communicate if they don’t feel happy in any way.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

Staff may undertake SEND training but will use the EYFS framework and carry out observations.
