How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

-Through my knowledge of SEND through previous experience and training. -By keeping myself up to date with training offered by my childminding agency Tiney. -By constant observation and termly progress assessments. -Through conversations with parents/carers

How do you involve parents/carers?

- Parents are involved in the day to day care received by their child and any observations made -Through sharing development through the learning log on the app parents can access -Through conversation and sharing of assessments - By keeping in touch with parents about how children behave and develop at home in comparison with my setting.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

- The parent app has handy Tiney Tips and workshops for parents to attend. The Tiney Tips help consolidate learning at home and in my setting. - We will meet and chat regularly. - Development and observations will be shared regularly. Daily learning logs and termly reports. - We will offer a consistent approach to learning and managing behaviours. We will work together to develop strategies that work best for your child

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

- I follow the EYFS statutory framework - I have received high quality training and can meet children needs in all seven areas of learning. - I keep my training up to date - I observe and get to know your child and work with their interest to keep their learning full and their attention engaged. - I ensure that we identify areas of development need and if external agencies are required to support any needs referrals will be support. - Through observation and assessment we can identify needs and target necessary areas of development

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

- By following the Early Years Foundation Stage myself and parents are able to discuss and evidence outcomes - I complete regular assessments and use a development tracker to identify achievements and needs. - Termly assessments will identify achievements - Frequent input into the child’s learning journal allows parents to see achievements made on a regular basis.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

- By getting to know your child well, knowing their strengths and where they need more support. - By working closely with parents to understand what adaptations are needed. - Ensuring my setting is diverse to meet different needs and interests. - Pre-planning activities to ensure adaptions have been made

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

- The setting is all on one level the garden is also one level. The toilet and sleeping area is also on the ground floor. - Resources are easy to reach by the children - Some resources are labelled with pictures to show what is in the boxes - Our daily routines are displayed in pictures throughout the day.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

- Risk assessments are always carried out prior to any trips, sometimes these do not need to be written down. - By knowing your child well and understanding their needs while outside the setting. - Knowing how to identify and respond to the child’s needs appropriately and quickly - Always remaining within my ratio and considering and managing the personalities and needs of the children attending the trip.

How do you work with other organisations?

- Through good communication. - By gathering and providing necessary information - Attending or providing reports for professionals meetings - Make myself and my setting available to any agency wishing to visit your child in their educational environment - Being aware of local agencies and seeking advice regarding appropriate referrals.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

- Each child has a settling in plan involving parents for approximately two weeks but can be longer should the child need. - Completing observations and baseline assessments - I identify your child’s interests in order to have appropriate resources out when they arrive. - When leaving the setting we ensure the child as prepared as possible knowing when the transition will happen. - I will support with visiting new setting should this be possible within my day. - By ensuring all documentation is completed and up to date.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

- I have received training through Tiney regarding SEND - I will ensure further training and refers offered by Tiney are attended - I will utilise training and support offered by Oldham Council - I have completed a SEND policy

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

- My childminding agency Tiney can be contacted - I have a complaints policy for parents - I will investigate all complaints that relate to and EYFS requirement and respond to you in writing 28 days. - If it is more appropriate for Tiney to investigate the complaint I will pass the information on and I would keep a record of all complaints made.
