How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

I can identify SEND through a range of assessment and observation.

How do you involve parents/carers?

Speak with the parents/carers regularly and listen to their concerns and observations. Invite parents/carers to attend meetings to discuss their child's progress, and any concerns they may have. Include parents/carers in the SEND review process

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

I'll keep you informed about the things we've been doing and how they can benefit the growth of your child. I can provide you things to do at home. I can monitor your child's development and offer feedback and direction on what they should do to keep growing and learning.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

I get to know each child and their progress and needs to tailor my planning to meet the individual child's next step, by tracking their development and progress throughout their learning journey.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

We can talk about any difficulties or successes your child is having, as well as strategies to help them improve.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

It is critical to consider their specific needs, abilities, and interests. Some activities, such as providing additional visual supports and modifying materials and equipment, may need to be simplified or modified depending on the child's individual needs and abilities.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

All my resources are kept downstairs, within easy reach of all age groups. I have toilet facilities upstairs and a flat back garden. My setting is very well designed for most young children, but I would probably encounter a problem with a child in a wheelchair because I do not have enough space for a wheelchair.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

I will work with parents to ensure that their child is included in activities outside the setting, including trips.

How do you work with other organisations?

Seek advice from Oldham Council and consult their local. Establish open lines of communication and provide regular progress updates.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

It is critical to create a welcoming environment in which children can explore and learn at their own pace. I will introduce myself, explain the rules and expectations, and give the children opportunities to get to know one another. It is also important to provide closure and say goodbye to their friends as they leave the setting.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

I am a stand-alone childminder and at present do not employ any assistants or other staff.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

Parents/carers can talk to me about any issue, good or bad, at any time. However, if they have a concern or a complaint and the problem does not get resolved, I will refer them to Ofsted.
