How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

I keep up to date with SEND training in order to ensure I am able to spot early signs of special educational needs and disabilities in children. I also do assessments on the children following the EYFS and track where milestones are being met and what areas children are behind in.

How do you involve parents/carers?

I keep parents up to date with their child's observations and assessments and discuss with them if I have any concerns regarding their development.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

I follow the EYFS framework and ensure all areas of learning are met. All my observations of children will be uploaded through an app in which the parents can view, in order for parents to also be able to continue specific learning areas at home.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

Each activity set up will be tailored to each child's specific needs and requirements. My setting will always be run safely and securely so that children will always thrive and develop in the best way possible.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

Parents can see the next steps planned from previous observations, once achieving the next step a new observation will be wrote up for parents to see with a next step.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

I will ensure that activities set up are inclusive for all children to join in. If a child requires specific resources, they will be added to my setting.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

My setting is run from one floor making it easily accessible.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

I exchange information about the child’s development and progress to professionals that work within early years such as health visitors to ensure the child gets the right support.

How do you work with other organisations?

Children will complete settling in sessions before they start, and parents will be asked to fill out a child's passport which will contain key information about their child.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

Children will complete settling in sessions before they start, and parents will be asked to fill out a child's passport which will contain key information about their child.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

Attending regular training provided by Tiney and other external bodies.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

These can be wrote to myself or Tiney (CM agency) in which I then would forward to LADO. I will inform you of the outcome from this.
