We have created these advice referral toolkits as part of our commitment to work with a resident focus. They are for everyone to use – residents, elected members, staff and partners.

They have been developed to provide options for common enquiries based on feedback from across the council and partners.

Common enquiries

Report the dumping of illegal waste, including household rubbish, larger items such as mattresses or fridges, garden refuse, commercial waste or litter:

Request the removal or treatment of an infestation of ants, bed bugs bees, beetles, cockroaches, fleas, mice, moles, rats, silverfish, squirrels or wasps

Request new alley gates, request a new key, report damage to an existing alley gates or locks:

Leaf sweeping and removal is carried out on a schedule. The Council doesn’t take requests to sweep up/remove fallen leaves.

Reporting when you have seen someone not cleaning up after their dog in a public space: 

Report graffiti or fly-posting on council owned land or building

We will remove graffiti on council owned land or buildings. Racist or offensive graffiti will be removed within 24 hours wherever possible. 

Report an abandoned or possible stolen car (that doesn’t appear to have a registered keeper, parked illegally or is unroadworthy).

Reporting a broken or damaged streetlight via the Community Lighting Partnership who maintain streetlights on behalf of Oldham Council.
