Oldham Town Hall was built in three separate stages. The oldest section of the building opened in 1841 even before Oldham was granted a Charter to be a town with its own Council in 1849. Later additions once housed the police station and the magistrates’ court. Today the old town hall is a cinema and this whole area is called Parliament Square.
