The Play Streets scheme is a resident-led initiative designed to help our children to have fun and play safely in their own street.

Parents / adults are responsible for the safety and supervision of children playing out on the street during the session.

You can apply to have your road closed to traffic so children can play for up to three hours.

Your temporary play street order is valid for 12 months (We’d encourage you to apply for a recurring series i.e. monthly of closure orders in one go but if you decide you aren’t holding a session then it doesn’t matter)

Play Street sessions can be held weekly, monthly, quarterly or as a one off proposal.

The street is closed to through traffic during play sessions but will still be open to the people that live there.

We’ve teamed up with Oldham Play Action Group (OPAG), which has been putting on events and activities for young people to enjoy since 1977, to help run the scheme.
