Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and partner agencies continue to respond to the moorland fire at Dovestone.
Public Safety
- Avoid the Dovestone moorland area and any locations affected by smoke from the wildfire.
- Follow advice from emergency services at all times.
- If smoke is visible, stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed.
- Once the smoke has cleared, you may ventilate your property, but remain aware that conditions can change and smoke may return.
- If driving through smoky areas, keep windows closed, shut air vents and switch off air conditioning.
- Do not undertake activities that could increase wildfire risk.
- Please do not call 999 to report smoke already associated with this incident unless there is an immediate danger to life or property.
- Do not travel to the area to view the fire, as this may hinder emergency operations and access routes.

- Firefighters and partner agencies continue to work to contain the fire and prevent further spread.
- Specialist resources remain deployed, with additional support being sought where available.
- Agencies are working together to minimise the impact on local communities.
