Oldham Council wants to hear about your experiences when it comes to walking, cycling and wheeling to school.

We are currently carrying out a boroughwide audit of all active travel facilities in a 2 km area around every primary and secondary school.

As part of it we want to gather the views of schools, teachers, parents, residents and business owners.

Tell us the key issues, opportunities and types of improvements you would like to see to make active travel to schools safer and more accessible.

We also want to know about the barriers/obstacles people face, which stops them from travelling actively.

The results of this audit will help us come up with priority list of improvement schemes.

Councillor Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “The council wants to cut the number of vehicles being used on the school run and get people more active.

“If we can do that then we’ll be cutting pollution and congestion and making our roads safer.

“We have facts and figures from our own surveys but now we want to hear your views. They are important and will help form the future of active travel in the borough.”

The council is already introducing measures to make the roads around our schools safer through School Streets. The first pilot scheme has gone live at St Anne’s Primary School, Royton.

To take part in the survey – which run until August 15 – go to https://www.oldham.gov.uk/school-streets

Anyone who takes part is in with a chance of winning one of three £50 vouchers for a local business or restaurant.

You will need to leave your details at the end of the survey to be in with a chance of winning.
