Harley from Buttercup Corner playing with one of the kids who is laughing and having fun

"It doesn't feel like a job. It’s really rewarding," says Early Years Apprentice, Harley Keenan – who attended the after-school club at Buttercup Corner as a little boy and became a proud apprentice helping to shape the future for babies and toddlers.

He started in September 2024 after sitting his GCSEs in the summer. But he has been helping out during the holidays at the nursery since he was 14, and his connections with Buttercup Corner go back even further.

Harley used to attend the after-school club at the nursery, and his former key worker Danielle Atkins is now his room leader.

"You witness a lot of their first milestones in life – them talking, walking. It doesn't necessarily feel like a job. It’s really rewarding."
