The Council is renovating the Spindles complex as a key part of our regeneration of Oldham Town Centre.

As part of the Spindles renovation, the Council has secured a grant of £2.1m from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, working with Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

The project will see Air Source Heat Pumps and insulation installed in the shopping centre, which will make the Spindles Net Zero compliant as it is currently supplied on a renewable electricity tariff.

The Spindles will be a key Town Centre facility for the Council, local businesses and residents over the coming years and decades, and these decarbonisation works will ensure that it is future-proofed.
