The Oldham Green New Deal Strategy 2020-25 set two stretching carbon neutrality targets – for Council Buildings and Street Lighting by 2025, and for the borough as a whole by 2030, within the context of the Greater Manchester carbon neutrality target of 2038. The ambitions in the Strategy have now been mainstreamed into delivery through the Creating a Better Place programme.
The Oldham Green New Deal approach ensures that the co-benefits of investment in greenhouse gas emissions reduction, such as jobs and training opportunities for Oldham residents and businesses in the key growth Green Technology and Services sector, are fully realised.
