PrEP

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a pill that if taken correctly, means that you do not need to worry about the HIV status of your partner.

You can take PrEP if you are HIV negative, but are at high risk of catching HIV.

PrEP will only protect you from HIV and does not cover other STI’s

Unprotected sex with a partner who has HIV

HCRG Care Group:

If you had unprotected sex with someone who has or you’re worried could have HIV please contact HCRG immediately for advice and an appointment as this will need specialist assessment.

You can receive Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP). This is a medication that needs to be taken as soon as possible after exposure and definitely within 3 days.
