A residents group known as The New Chadderton Partnership applied to Oldham Council to designate a neighbourhood area and neighbourhood forum for Chadderton under sections 61F and 61G of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

This followed on from a previous application by Chadderton Partnership, which was refused on 8 October 2020. Further details of the previous application can be found below:

In line with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended) the council published a copy of the area and forum applications for consultation, between 29 November 2021 and 10 January 2022.

Following the consultation, Oldham Council considered representations made. A summary of the comments and the council’s response can be seen below.

Notice is hereby given that Oldham Council, pursuant to a Cabinet decision made on 28 February 2022, has approved the designation of The New Chadderton Partnership as a Neighbourhood Forum and the designation of Chadderton Neighbourhood Area.

In line with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 Part 2 Regulations 7 and 10 the following information is made available:

Please note the Neighbourhood Forum designation will cease to have effect at the end of the period of 5 years from the day the designation was made which was 28 February 2022.

Following the designation of The New Chadderton Partnership forum for the area, no other organisation or body can be designated for the area until that designation expires or is withdrawn.

Having a neighbourhood area designation will mean that the forum can start the process of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan for the neighbourhood area of Chadderton, or a Neighbourhood Development Order for a specific part of the neighbourhood area.
