Designation of neighbourhood area

The application to designate Saddleworth Parish Council boundary as a neighbourhood area was approved at Oldham Council Cabinet on Monday 21 November 2016. It was also approved at the Peak District National Park Authority Planning Committee on Friday 11 November 2016.

In accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended) the Council has publicised a decision notice and map setting out the following information.

(a) the name of the neighbourhood area;
(b) a map which identifies the area; and
(c) the name of the relevant body who applied for the designation.

Saddleworth Neighbourhood Development Plan – Regulation 16 consultation

Oldham Council is inviting representations on behalf of both itself and the Peak District National Park Authority on the Saddleworth Neighbourhood Plan and its supporting documents, in line with the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations (Regulation 16) from 10th June 2026 until 11.59pm on 24th July 2026

Hard copies of the Saddleworth Neighbourhood Plan and its supporting documents can be found at: 

  • Libraries in Delph, Greenfield, Lees and Uppermill - (library opening times and locations)
  • Oldham Council’s Spindles Shopping Centre reception (please press the intercom for reception and go upstairs to the second floor), West Street, Oldham, OL1 1LF (open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm); 
  • the Peak District National Park Authority’s main office from 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Friday; and
  • the Peak District National Park Authority’s office at Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1AE from 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Friday (closed bank holidays).

Consultation on the Saddleworth Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents is taking place from 10th June 2026 until 11.59pm on 24th July 2026

If you wish to be notified of the Oldham Council’s and the Peak District National Park Authority's decision whether to make (adopt) or refuse to make the Saddleworth Neighbourhood Plan under Regulation 19 of the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations, please make this clear in your representation.

The Council is keen to promote the submission of comments electronically and encourage anyone with appropriate facilities to make their responses in this way.
