My Account issues

1. Unsuccessful application

If we have not been able to offer a higher preference school, this is because the school is oversubscribed in accordance with the schools admissions policy (you can contact the school admissions team or the school for a fuller explanation of why the place was not offered).

We will ensure that there is a school place available for all Oldham residents

If we cannot offer you a place at any of the schools requested we will offer you a place at the nearest school to your home address which still has vacant places.

Waiting lists

If you are refused admission to any of the school's you applied to we will put you on their waiting lists.

You can also ask to be put on the waiting list of any other school.

Appeals

If you are refused admission to a school you are allowed to appeal the decision.

Choice vs. preference

Promises of more parental choice have encouraged some parents to believe that they have the right both to choose a school and have that choice met. This is not the case.

The law on admissions gives parents the right to express a preference for a school. It does not use the word choice.
