Council Tax discount

If your property is empty and requires major repair work to render it habitable or is undergoing structural alteration you may be entitled to claim a 50% discount for a maximum of 12 months.

Please note, the following repairs would not qualify for a discount:

  • skimming and plastering
  • bathroom and kitchen refits
  • main service re-connections
  • redecoration or wall tiling
  • electric rewire or gas fitting
  • damp proof courses
  • repointing, plastering and rendering
  • roof repairs i.e. tiles; slates and guttering
  • removing fireplaces
  • new windows and/or doors
  • internal joinery or floorboards
  • drives; paths; fences and garden work

You will be required to upload evidence to support your application e.g. surveyors report, schedule of works, invoices for work, estimates and photographs
