Domestic extensions

The majority of domestic extensions require building regulations approval.

Extensions that will be located within 3 metres of the centre line of a public sewer require building regulations.

Apply

Extensions that will be located within 3 metres of the line of a public sewer must be submitted using the Full Plans application form.

All other extensions can use the Full Plans form or the Building Notice form.

Fees

For some Full Plans applications, part of the fee is payable upon submission of the application and the other part is invoiced for, after the first inspection by Building Control officers. This is dependent on the work category and is shown within the charges information.

For a Building Notice application, fee is payable upon submission of the application.

Non-domestic extensions

The majority of non-domestic extensions require building regulations approval.

You must use the Full Plans application form for all extensions to non-domestic buildings.
