Alexandra Park is a Victorian town park, which was built by the people of Oldham during the cotton famine sparked by the American Civil War, which prevented the export of raw cotton from America to Oldham.
Small areas of clough woodland can be found at the south eastern end of the park.
There is a woodland walk adjacent to Queen’s Road.
From Alexandra Park there are marked paths leading into Snipe Clough, Brushes Clough and to Park Bridge Heritage centre and beyond.

Alexandra Park Eco Centre plans unveiled
This is our vision for the new £7m Alexandra Park Eco Centre.
The new centre aims to be ‘carbon neutral’ with low or nil running costs and would replace the existing and ageing depot currently on site - boosting our ambitions to become the greenest borough in the region.
As well as providing much-needed facilities – such as office space, operational buildings, greenhouses and storage facilities – the new centre would be self-sufficient and boast the latest green technologies.
The new eco-centre would act as an anchor development for our flagship Northern Roots Project.
It will see the creation of the UKs largest urban farm and eco-park on the neighbouring 160-acre Snipe Clough.
