2. Gatsby Benchmarks with young people with SEND
Gatsby, in collaboration with Disability Rights UK and The Careers & Enterprise Company, have released a new publication on using the Gatsby Benchmarks with young people with SEND.
The Benchmarks define what schools and colleges should do to ensure that all young people know the options open to them and can make informed choices for their future. SEND practitioners and national advocates agreed that there should not be a separate set of Benchmarks for students with SEND, but that some Benchmarks may need to be implemented differently for these students.
Gatsby has collected the views of practitioners and experts who describe how they, or those they support, have used the Benchmarks to deliver better career guidance for students with a wide range of needs and disabilities. It is hoped their perspectives will give confidence to practitioners when planning their own careers offer for students with SEND. See Good Career Guidance - Perspectives from the SEND sector (pdf).
