It is good practice that all governors, however experienced, attend training to improve their knowledge and effectiveness in their governor role and to keep abreast of developments that may affect their school.

Prevent Training
All Oldham governors are required to complete the Prevent duty training: Learn how to support people susceptible to radicalisation. it explains about the prevention of radicalisation, extremism and terrorism.
Please note that schools may have their own Prevent training for governors/Trustees.
Boards for Education
Governors and potential governors can acess elearning and webinars on the Boards for Education training page (formerly known as Governors for Schools).
Safeguarding Training Calendar
(OSCP)
Governors are advised that as safeguarding is one of their lead responsibility areas, they are required to access safeguarding training.
Oldham Safeguarding Children Partnership (OSCP) offers a programme of multi-agency safeguarding training for professionals working with children, young people, vulnerable adults and their families.

National Governance Association (NGA)
Schools who have a subscription/membership to the NGA, can acess governor training free for their governors/trustees. The 'Learning Link' is also a seperate subscription where further detailed training courses can be acessed.
