Period of consultation: 5 December 2023 – 16 January 2024
The Council, as the admission authority, is consulting on its admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Oldham for 2025-2026 and invites you to give your views.
Background information
The School Admissions Code requires all admission authorities to consult on any changes proposed to their admission arrangements.
A copy of the full proposed admission arrangements must also be available on the website for the duration of the consultation period.
Below are the documents for the consultation for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Oldham.
We are only proposing one change to the current policies:
Reduction to the published admission number (PAN)
The PAN is the number of school places that the admission authority must offer in the age group that children are normally admitted (eg reception/year 7).
Place planning reviews indicate that the proposed reduction to PAN for the following school/s will not impact the delivery of sufficient school places in the area by the 2025-2026 academic year.
School |
Current PAN 24-25 |
Proposed PAN 25-26 |
---|---|---|
Springhead Infant and Nursery School |
90 |
60 |
Due to the lowering demand for primary school places across the borough, it is felt Springhead Infant and Nursery School needs to reduce its PAN to support future planning.
The benefits of this will be allowing the school to better plan staffing and budgets. It will also ensure facilities can be utilised with surety on the number of pupils who may be allocated in the September intakes.
The consultation will run for 6 weeks from 5 December 2023 through to 16 January 2024.
