If you have a child who is due to move into Year 10 in September 2022 we can advise you of other opportunities for education starting in Year 10, in Greater Manchester, which you may not be aware of. This does not mean you are required to move your child from their existing school if this is still the best option for them.

University Technical Colleges (UTCs) and Studio Schools are set up by universities, businesses, and employers and specialise in technical subjects and focus on developing the skills needed for employment. At GCSE they offer a similar curriculum to a typical mainstream school, as well as their specialist subject.

In the table below is a list of the schools within a reasonable travelling distance of Oldham LA, which you may wish to look into and consider whether your child would want to apply for a place in September 2022. In addition, you may want to look at the school's websites to see their curriculum offer and specialist subjects.

All schools have a statutory duty to secure impartial careers guidance for all Year 8 to Year 13 pupils to inspire young people to fulfill their potential and to make them aware of the opportunities open to them. We strongly recommend that your child discuss their options with a Careers Adviser in their current school before making any decision.

More information and applications can be made directly through their websites as detailed below.
