Government grants for Oldham's roads

Final Monitoring Report on Department for Transport (DfT) Pothole Fund 2016/17

In April 2016 Oldham Council were awarded £137,000 from the Department for Transport (DfT) Pothole Action Fund for the 2016/17 financial year. This was to be used to carry out works to prevent and/or permanently fix potholes on the local highway network that Oldham Council is responsible for. This allocation was in addition to our local highway authority planned highways maintenance expenditure of £1.3m* in 2016/17.

The Pothole Action Fund schemes delivered were selected using Highway Survey data, data collected from inspections and problem areas with large numbers of actionable defects highlighted for improvement using this funding.

The Pothole Action Fund schemes were designed to enhance existing programmes and minimise the impact on road users while protecting and enhancing the network. The list of specific works and overall strategy were presented to and supported by Senior Officers and the Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services.

A requirement of this award is for Oldham Council to publish an annual progress report by the end of March 2017 for the Department for Transport, providing details of the works undertaken. The details are:
