Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) help protect trees.
Oldham has around 700 TPOs.
You can contact the Planning Team to view individual TPO's in person for free (subject to appointment) or to buy a copy.
Undertake work to protected trees
A works to trees application, WTA, is required for works to trees with a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and a section 211 Notice is required for works to trees within a Conservation Area, which are not subject to TPO. Please check the web map below to confirm if these requirements apply.

Most applications are decided within 6 weeks.
You can meet the Planning Officer and Arboricultural Officer at the site to discuss your application and get advice.
If your application is denied, you can appeal to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Details on how to appeal will be included in the decision notice you receive.
