2. Moston Brook latest news

  • Thanks to a generous grant award from the Bradley Park Community Fund and the help of the Mersey Rivers Trust, Moston Brook has undergone a green makeover with 300m resurfaced footpaths, a weir removal and river habitat improvements carried out in and along the Brook from Hale Lane to Broadway, Failsworth.
  • New all weather eco waterside path at Wrigley Head. Partnership project with Groundwork Greater Manchester. Kindly funded by a United Utilities Catchment Wise grant.
  • New entrance at Park Avenue kindly funded by Oldham Council.
  • Four new entrances and associated works – two on Broadway, one at Bridport Avenue and one at the Fairway.  Kindly funded by Manchester City Council Clean City fund
  • Works near Mill Lane and Mill Street to improve water quality includes new eco waterside path and upgraded steps leading to the Broadway area of the brook. Partnership project with Groundwork Oldham, Rochdale and Bury. Funding kindly provided by DEFRA and the Environment Agency. These works have been further improved by the creation of several mini water basins designed to collect polluted surface water from entering Moston Brook. This project was funded by Natural Course, an EU Life Integrated Project
  • New path from Park Avenue onto the brook kindly funded by Tesco Bags of Help
  • New sculpture/seating project based on aircraft manufacture in Chadderton.  Kindly funded and supported by the Lancaster Club Trustees.
  • New all-weather, access for all/access to nature path installed from Gullane Close to Dalmahoy Close. This transformational project has been delivered by Groundwork Great Manchester as part of their Resilient River Valleys Project kindly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund Green Recovery Challenge
