The Planning and Building Act 2020 has introduced a temporary licensing system for the provision of furniture on the highway for:

  • Use as a public house, wine bar or other drinking establishment; or
  • Other use for the sale of food or drink for consumption on or off the premises

To apply for such a licence please complete the application form. Please read the guidance notes carefully.

Site notice

A site notice should then be displayed on the premises for a period of 7 days beginning the day after the application is submitted.

An application has to be determined within 7 days following the closing date for objections by the Council.

Licence duration

Any licence granted will expire on 30 September 2023 and the licence conditions must be complied with.

How to object

All applications are subject to a 5 working day objection period whereby members of the public may make representation against the application.

Within the application details there is a “last date for objections”, should you wish to object to any application, please ensure you email your representation to licensing@oldham.gov.uk on or before the date specified. Any objections received after that time will not be counted.
