Oldham Registrars are hosting a Wedding Fair on Sunday 25 January 2026 and are giving one lucky couple the chance to win their wedding ceremony.
The prize is for the wedding ceremony performed by the Registrar to include provision of one marriage certificate only, and does not include any other services e.g. photography, flowers, reception event.
All couples who attend the Wedding Fair and complete a feedback card will be entered into the prize draw. A winner will be chosen at random on Wednesday 28 January 2026.
Terms and conditions
- The prize draw is open to UK residents aged 18 years or over, except employees of the Promoter, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the prize draw.
- The prize draw is free to enter and no purchase is necessary.
- The Promoter of this prize draw is Oldham Borough Council, the Registry Office, Chadderton Town Hall, Middleton Road, Oldham OL9 6PP.
- All entries must be submitted in the Oldham Council Registry Office feedback form given to the attendees of the Oldham Council Registry Office Wedding Fayre. Only one entry per couple is permitted.
- The opening date for entries is 11am on 25th of January 2026. The closing date of the prize draw is 3pm on 25th of January 2026. Entries received after this time will not be considered.
- A winner will be chosen by random draw supervised by an independent person on 28th January 2026 when the winner will be announced ("Draw Date").
- The winner will be notified by telephone or twice by email (using details provided at entry) before 31 January 2026. The winner must provide a postal address to claim their prize. If a winner does not communicate acceptance of the prize by email to the Promoter within 14 calendar days of the second email from the Promoter, then the winner's prize will be forfeited and the Promoter will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above
- The prize is a wedding ceremony performed by Oldham Council Registry Office Service staff at Chadderton Town Hall in either the Green Room or the Oak Room subject to these terms and conditions.
- The Prize must be claimed and the wedding ceremony performed within 12 months of the Draw Date and no later than 25 January 2027 (“the Expiry Date”). If not claimed and a wedding ceremony performed by the Expiry Date then no alternative will be offered
- The prize is for the wedding ceremony performed by the Registrar to include provision of one marriage certificate only, and does not include any other services e.g. photography, flowers, reception event.
- The number of guests shall be limited depending on the room chosen (20 persons in the Green Room; 88 persons in the Oak Room).
- Music may be played via the Registry Office Bluetooth speaker as part of the ceremony
- The total time available for the whole ceremony shall be 45 minutes.
- The restrictions which generally apply to wedding ceremonies at Chadderton Town Hall performed shall apply.
- The wedding ceremony booking fee is included in the prize.
- The wedding couple shall be required to give notice of marriage at least 29 days before the wedding ceremony and comply with the statutory requirements and pay the notice fee.
- Subject to availability and the agreement of the Registrar, the wedding may be held on any day except a Sunday and Bank Holidays
- If the couple wish to have their reception as Chadderton Town Hall separate arrangements would need to be agreed with Queen Elizabeth Hall.
- The prize is offered on the basis that the wedding couple are available for promotion/advertising on Oldham Council social media.
- The prize for the winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
- The prize is supplied by the Promoter.
- The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
- The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will send the surname and county of major prize winners and, if applicable copies of their winning entries, to anyone who emails registrars@oldham.gov.uk or writes to Oldham Borough Council, the Registry Office, Chadderton Town Hall, Middleton Road, Oldham OL9 6PP (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month after the closing date stated in condition 4. If the winner objects to any or all of their surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the Promoter registrars@oldham.gov.uk. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
- Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
- The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.
- Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
- Personal data supplied during the course of this promotion will only be processed as set out in Oldham Council’s Privacy Policy. See also condition 13 with regard to the announcement of winners.
- These terms and conditions and this promotion are governed by English law. If any entrants to this promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts in England and Wales.
