What we use your information for

We collect your personal information for the following purpose(s):

  • To update you on your service request
  • To contact you in relation to issues of highway enforcement
  • To serve notice in accordance with legislation e.g. Highways Act 1980, New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991, Land Drainage Act 1991

Please be aware that where legal proceedings are necessary your information may be shared with legal professionals, insurance companies and anti-fraud organisations.

Information relating to physical or mental health is only collected where it is directly relevant to and necessary for the progression of your enquiry. For example, it is necessary to collect some information relating to your disability for a disabled parking place application. Without collecting this information, it would not be possible to assess eligibility for a bay. Where collected such information will be used solely for the processing of the enquiry.

Legal basis for processing

The legal basis for processing and or sharing your personal information is:

  • Public task: the process is necessary for the council to perform a task in the public interest or for official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law
  • Public task: the processing is necessary to comply with our legal obligations in relation to highway legislation.

If you fail to provide certain information when requested, we may be prevented from complying with our legal obligations (ensuring highway is free from obstruction).
