Christmas hours

There are occasions when the issuing of a Penalty Charge Notice to a vehicle in contravention of a parking regulation is not a sufficient deterrent. In order to discourage motorists who persistently commit contraventions or seek to avoid payment of outstanding notices this Council will under powers of the Road Traffic Act 1991 either wheel clamp or remove a vehicle if found to be parked in contravention.

Vehicle clamping

The charge for the release of a wheel clamp is £38.

In addition to payment of the penalty charge, any other outstanding penalty charges must be paid prior to release of the vehicle.

To obtain release of the wheel clamp, call the number on the notice attached to your vehicle.

If you feel the reasons for wheel clamping the vehicle were incorrect then payment must be made and you must follow the representation procedure which will be outlined in the document attached to your vehicle.

Vehicle removal

The charge to recover your vehicle from the Vehicle Pound is the Cost of Removal of £105 plus the cost of vehicle storage (£12 for each 24 hours (or part thereof) that the vehicle is impounded).

In addition to the payment of the penalty charge, any other outstanding penalty charges must be paid prior to release of the vehicle.

If you feel the reasons for removing the vehicle were incorrect then all payments must be made and you must follow the representation procedure. Full details of the representation procedure will be supplied at the time the vehicle is collected.

To check if your vehicle has been removed by the Council's Parking Contractor, phone 0161 770 6654.
